Our Mission: Rescuing The Lost

In the daily operation of our ministry, we strive to help as many poor children and needy families as we can. Our Feeding Center Program operates in kitchens we have set up in churches located in poor remote villages, many without running water and modern sanitation.   The resources that pass through our hands feed, clothe, and spiritually mentor these forgotten people. Through our Care Package Program, other families receive food, clothing, and hygiene items to use in their homes in hope that these families can stay together.  Many families in Romania do not stay together because of poverty.  One or both parents leave to look for work in other countries.  Sadder still is the harsh reality that many never return to their children.

We recently encountered a group of four brothers who lived through this heartbreak.  Working with local social workers, we arranged to have them brought into the Bread of Life Orphanage. Otherwise they would have been placed in government run orphanages.  The hard conditions in these institutions and fact that the boys could not stay together made this a frightening option for them.  They are now safe in our Christian home, but the road ahead for them has many adjustments and is far from certain.  They have a lot of emotional trauma, but we know that the friendship of the other children and the love from our staff can do miracles.  There is no more important part of our mission than rescuing and nurturing children at risk. Having seen many families like these four boys survive and then thrive, we feel a great sense of hope and our resolve to help is renewed again. God described His love for His people as a hen gathering her chicks under her wings, and this is how we feel about the children entrusted to our care.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food... I was a stranger and you welcomed me...” — Matthew 25:35 ESV This past February marked four years since the war dramatically changed the lives of millions of people in Ukraine. The world’s response has shifted over time — some still remain deeply engaged, while others have found it difficult to stay connected as the conflict continues.

Every day, elderly men and women in the Broșteni, Romania area who have no one to care for them receive a hot meal delivered right to their door. Along with the food comes a warm greeting, a listening ear, and a helping hand from Iosif, who faithfully travels nearly 15 kilometers by bicycle each day, regardless of the weather. For the elderly he visits, the meal meets a practical need, but the visit itself often means even more. It is a reminder that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. What makes these daily visits especially meaningful is the story of the young man making them.

If you have ever held a newborn in your arms, you know that few moments in life can match it. Yet the Bible tells us there is one moment that does — the moment a soul is born again. Heaven itself rejoices. Recently, I experienced two such moments in a single church service.
