A few months ago, I had the privilege of accompanying our BOL team to deliver food to Ukraine. Our trip began at our warehouse in Bucharest with multiple loaded trucks and trailers headed toward our destination, Ismail, Ukraine. Ismail is in the southwest corner of Ukraine and is relatively safe.

Dear Friends, recently, Romania has been devastated by severe flooding caused by the Boris cyclone. This natural disaster has claimed 7 lives and displaced hundreds of families as entire villages were swept away by the floodwaters.

Standing in line at the BOL home, waiting to pick up my food tray, I hear a “ Hey, come sit here! ” I looked around and spotted a new face broadly smiling at me. It was Oana, a small, 8-year-old girl, one of the new children in the BOL home . This was her first time seeing me; she did not even know my name.

The celebration of Christmas began with a gift. It’s a time when we celebrate God giving the world the gift of Jesus. God, the creator of the world, chose to give us the gift of His Son to bring us back to a relationship with Him. What a powerful thing.  Think about the moment right […]

After months of intense lessons at our feeding centers, we planned some different activities for the children in the poverty-stricken communities.

On a recent visit to a poor community, our team asked the children how they were doing in school. One little girl sadly looked down and said, “I failed this year.” She was in the second grade. We pondered, how can one fail the second grade? The reality is that growing up in an illiterate family leads to this—a never-ending cycle of poverty trapping children. This is why we advocate for education as part of the cure for poverty.

Many from my generation cherish memories of gardening with parents and grandparents. I, too, fondly remember gardening with my family, and the lessons I learned have served me well.

We are happy to share that our May firewood appeal has been going very well. We have already received nearly seven truckloads of firewood out of the ten needed. The importance of warmth for our children at the Bread of Life Home in Brosteni can not be overstated.

“He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:2-5 (NIV)

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Gal 6:9 KJV Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, our food trucks serve as vessels of daily provision and spiritual sustenance in conflict-ridden Ukraine. Stationed near the front lines, they are symbols of hope, braving danger to feed and nourish souls.

Just as the warmth of God’s love surrounds us like a comforting embrace, the children can feel that embrace warmed by the firewood our faithful supporters provide each year. It is a tangible reminder of God’s care and provision. Last winter, you helped us keep the Bread of Life Home, a sanctuary of warmth and comfort for the children in our care. As always, your support was a beacon of hope, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness. As we prepare for this coming winter, we again need your help. Although Romania had a mild winter last year, allowing us to reserve some wood, we still need to replenish our supply to ensure no child is cold this year. We need to purchase ten truckloads of firewood to prepare for winter 2024. The price of firewood rose this year to $1110 per truckload.
