Hope In Brosteni

“Like a mustard seed which when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade”   Mark 4:31-32

During my recent visit to Brosteni and the Bread of Life Orphanage I witnessed first-hand the incredible power of love. The love given to the children here at the orphanage is inspiring and amazing. The children learn hope, unconditional love, safety, confidence, morality, family, kindness and most importantly God. Bread of Life is changing future generations with love and their teachings. They are “sowing” seeds in these children so they can grow to become “large branches” where others will learn from them.

Bread of Life is home to poor, neglected and/ or abused children who need a secure home. Here the children feel loved and learn the ways Jesus. In a life where not everything is always certain, the orphanage is. It is home for these children. The children learn that their past does not determine their future. They learn no matter where they come from, they can have hope for a successful future.

When I visited the orphanage, youth transition program and the feeding centers, I thought I was going to be bringing something to the children. While I did bring them necessary items and all the love in my heart, the children gave me so much more. I have never been filled with so much love, hope and inspiration as I am now. These children, staff and this mission is miraculous and so, so important. With our help, support, prayers and love the mission will continue and many more lives will be impacted and changed.
Thank you, Bread of Life, for the life lessons, I am forever grateful. I send my love until we meet again.

For many of us, the word “graduation” brings to mind robes, diplomas, and proud family photos. But for the teenagers who are part of the Bread of Life family, this moment is so much more. It marks a profound achievement, a courageous transition into adulthood, and a first real step toward independence. Their determination inspires us and fills us with joy and pride.

Each fall, children approach the first day of school with nervous anticipation or eager excitement. As a child, I loved school. I remember preparing with a list in hand, carefully choosing pencils and notebooks. We weren’t wealthy, but my parents always found a way. Sadly, many children in Romania don’t get to experience that joy. For them, choosing school supplies or packing a backpack is out of reach. Without basic tools, some can’t attend school at all—missing the education that could shape their future.
